I wasn't sure if I would ever escape that Iron Crypt...
Stinkbug
The Stinkbug is one of the three talking cards that appears in Act I of Inscryption.
Similar to the Stoat and Stunted Wolf, it provides comments and hints towards the progression of the story, and no other Stinkbugs can be found throughout the game. The card's appearance warps as the Player dies, with its antennae becoming hair and its face becoming more humanoid, eventually coming to resemble an elderly woman. Conversations between the Stinkbug and the Stoat indicate that the two have a neutral relationship and a common goal.
Obtaining the Stinkbug[]
The Stinkbug can be found in the safe in Leshy's Cabin using the code 2-7-3, which is written within the rule book. If not found, the Stoat will prompt the player by saying that a code was written in the rule book by a previous challenger. When found, it will replace one of the Wolf cards in the player's starting deck.
Strategy[]
The Stinkbug is cheap, costing only 2 Bones to play, and can even survive hits from cards with 2 Power because of its Stinky Sigil. This makes it convenient to use against any 1 power card as it negates their attack. It is particularly useful against cards with the Airborne Sigil, as it reduces the damage the player takes directly. Be careful of units that have 3 or more Power, however, as the Stinkbug won't be able to survive it.

Trivia[]
- The true identity of the stinkbug is Grimora, Scrybe of the Dead. As the player progresses in Act I, the card's appearance will change to further match herself.
- The Stinkbug's constant reference to mortality ("Death take me", "Death again...") and its/her usage of the term "Iron Crypt" to describe the safe tie into its/her true identity as Grimora and ruling status over Grimora's Crypt.
- The Stinkbug appears to have mandibles. Stink bugs in real life (like all Hemiptera) have piercing and sucking mouthparts.
