Stoat

The Stoat is a Talking Beast card in Act I of Inscryption. It is always part of the player's starting deck.

This card contains the consciousness of P03, the Scrybe of Technology. As the player progresses, its appearance gradually changes to that of P03. Throughout Act I, the Stoat will try to help the player find the other talking cards and defeat Leshy.

Variants[]

In Act II and Kaycee's Mod, the Stoat is replaced by a non-talking Beast card. In Kaycee's Mod the Stoat is part of the Vanilla starting deck, and in Act II three of them are part of the Beastly starter deck.

Normally, no additional Stoats can be obtained in Kaycee's Mod, but The Mycologists can offer another if the player visits them with no duplicate cards.

Strategy[]

Act I[]

The Stoat has high Health for its Cost, but is otherwise unremarkable. Buffing it at a Campfire can be a good investment, as it will either make it overall strong with buffed Power, or highly tanky with buffed Health, but one must keep in mind that there are cards of the same price that can benefit more from this, such as the Mantis or Stunted Wolf.

Kaycee's Mod[]

Losing its higher than average Health, the Stoat becomes considerably less useful, essentially a Bullfrog without the Mighty Leap Sigil. You should try to buff the Stoat so it may fill a specific role in your deck instead of being a worse Bullfrog.

Act II[]

While you can now collect many copies of it, due to its lower Health the Stoat is still essentially a Bullfrog missing its Sigil, making it far less useful in most situations. It should generally be avoided outside of the beginning of the game, as there are many better options for its price.
